Tokyo based Studio Otoro develop curious and creative machines, including this delightful landing page for their portfolio site.
A scatter-grid layout combined with a lush effect on the logo, which comes together as you scroll down the page. Also some pleasing rollovers with the project thumbnails.
Aside from the ace design, great colour palette and typography, what caught our eye were the buttons, which have a really satisfying rollover/touch animation. Good stuff.
Into The Arctic
A beautifully executed project for Greenpeace features a unique map interface that encourages you to explore the North Pole and learn more about the Arctic.
The use of narrative within web design is an increasingly popular device, and this site does a superb job. Each step plays a small part in the video, with overlaying interactive info-graphics.
This neat project goes to show you that you don't need to drown your icons with drop-shadows or gradients, and that a simple UX and subtle interaction can go a long way. We particularly love the animation on the download button.
